Terms and refunds.
The short version: you pay once, use Hed on all your own Macs, and if it isn't for you, you get your money back within 30 days, no questions asked.
These terms are between you and the maker of Hed, Ilya Krasnov, an independent developer in Israel ("we"). Questions: hello@myhed.me.
Buying Hed
- Polar sells Hed to you. Polar (polar.sh) is our reseller and merchant of record: it takes your payment, charges the tax that applies where you live and sends your receipt. Your purchase is also covered by Polar's buyer terms; these terms cover Hed itself and your license to use it.
- One payment, no subscription. The price is shown at checkout, tax included where it applies.
- Questions about a payment or a receipt go to Polar first. Questions about Hed come to us.
The free trial
Hed works fully for 14 days from your first dictation, with no account and no card. After that, dictation stops until you buy a license. Everything you dictated stays on your Mac, readable and copyable.
Your license
- One person, all their own Macs. A license is for you, on every Mac you use yourself: at home, at work, a new Mac later.
- Not for sharing. Please don't share or resell your license key. A company buying Hed for its people needs one license per person.
- Updates. Your license includes free updates to Hed 1 and the test versions before it (0.x). If there's ever a paid Hed 2, upgrading is your choice, and the version you have keeps working.
- Add-ons. Extras we may sell later, such as transcribing calls, are separate purchases.
- Hed stays ours. You get the right to use Hed, not ownership of it. Don't copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app, except where the law gives you that right.
- Open models. Hed runs open models (OpenAI's Whisper for speech, Qwen for formatting) that come with their own open licenses.
Refunds
- 30 days, no questions asked. Write to hello@myhed.me within 30 days of buying, from the email you bought with or with your order number, and you get the full price back, to the card or account you paid with.
- After a refund the license is no longer yours to use: please remove it from your Macs (Hed › Settings › License).
- Your rights by law still apply, including any right to cancel where you live. This refund promise comes on top of them.
What we can promise
We work hard to make Hed accurate, but speech recognition and formatting can get words wrong, so check important text before you send it. Hed is provided as it is, without guarantees beyond those the law requires. As far as the law allows, our liability for anything to do with Hed is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Your data
Your voice and your dictations never leave your Mac. What the app and this site do collect is in the privacy policy.
Changes and the law
When these terms change, the date at the top changes too. Changes never take away what you've already bought. These terms are governed by the laws of Israel; if you're buying as a consumer, you also keep the protections of the law where you live.
